Ceramics

Back in the mists of time, early Sarawakians were making primitive pottery. Today, ceramics is a thriving industry but the old skills have not been forgotten.
About 900 years ago Chinese traders brought huge storage jars, bowls, plates and drinking vessels to Borneo as trade items. Now, local Chinese potters are using Sarawak motifs to produce colourful pots and vases.

From the traditional to the modern, from the purely practical to the highly decorative, Sarawak ceramics have a quality and style all their own.
